Sign of Evil - Sign of Evil from the PC game, Doom.   I think this is my favorite song from the Doom soundtrack.  It's basically a straight cover, but I replaced the lead guitar with violin and bass.  The "choir" is 8 of me.

Suspense - Suspense from  Doom.  This is 5 violins, 2 basses and some drums.

Home, Sweet Home - Home Sweet Home from Final Fantasy 5.  I've wanted to cover thihs song for years, but I never had a flute!  I just tried to recreate the original as best I could.

Phantom Forest- The Phantom Forest song from Final Fantasy 6.  I didn't put this under "other instruments" because it was more than just an experiment.  In fact, it won 2nd place in the November 2006 Dwelling of Duels contest!  It's me playing acoustic bass, acoustic guitar, 3 tracks of violin, and 3 tracks of flute.

Ants go Marching- an arrangment of "the ants go marching one by one hurrah, hurrah."  I used this for a music literature for children class.

Punchout- A small Punchout! medley.  It's me playing 2 tracks of bass and 2 tracks of violin.

Gau's Theme- Gau's Theme from Final Fantasy 6.  Valerie played violins and I played everything else.  This was recorded in 2003, I think.

Bach Again(NES) - "Bach Again" made with Midines.  I was in the SDSU concert choir Fall 2005, and we did this Bach chorale.  So I Nintendoed it.

Here to Stay(NES)- My Midinescover of Here to Stay by the best punk band ever, The Power Chords

NES-hop- A Zack Dela Rocha/someguy/Chuck D song I mixed with NES music (TMNT, Ghosts n Goblins, TMNT, Dr. Mario, Batman, Battletoads, Bomberman, Zelda).

Ghost-Zero.mp3- Ghostbusters mixed with Big Blue from F-Zero X.

Flop-Eared Mule- One of the songs we played in orchestra in 12th grade.  This is from the Andre Valerie Rachel recording session of '03.

Zelda(a cappella) - Me singing the Legend of Zelda title screen music.

Theory Projects

Silius Passacaglia- This was an assignment for theory.  We had to write a piece based on an ostinato (a repeating musical figure).  I the melodic ostinato, which is called a Passacaglia.  Listen for the melody |E---B---|CG----F#| which repeats in some form throughout the entire song.  It's based on the intro theme from Journey to Silius.  Cello, piano, two violins.  Thanks to Diana, Darija, Mr. Stauffer and Humberto for playing.

De Tous Biens Plaine- This was a project for music history class.  The original song is by the Renaissance composer, Agricola.  I recorded it on electric bass, acoustic bass and violin.

Impressionist- This was an assignment for theory class.  We had to write a late classical/impressionist piece.  Thanks to Gota, Mr. Stauffer and Matt (I think) for playing.  At 3:10 I harmonize a chromatic bass line using functional harmony.

NEStalgia- Not to be confused with my Nintendo cover band.  This was the final project for a MIDI class.  Iit's the first song I made with my Midines.  It starts out as an original fugue, then moves on to an original Nintendo-esque thing, then rips off Bach and Storm Eagle, then turns into an Iron Maiden medley.

8 bit 12 tone- Two mini 12 tone pieces I did for my 12 tone theory class.  Made with a Midines

Metroid(symphony) - My final, ultimate project for theory class was to orchestrate a composition or an arrangment.  These are themes from Metroid and Super Metroid: Title Screen, Secret, Item, Norfair, Samus theme.  Conducted by myself, Performed by the SDSU symphony, Spring 2006.  Thanks to Mr. Dutton for putting me on the program!

School Performances

Zelda(bass) - From the Spring '05 divisional.  I'm playing the melody, Jon is accompanying on guitar.  I decided to sing the intro a couple days before the recital.  This was the start of my divisional jokes.

Minuet in G(bass) - Bach's famous Minuet in G.  This was on Fall '05 divisional.  I play the melody, accompanied by Matthew on bass.  Listen for the shift to G minor, and the cool ending (5 or so people threw paper airplanes on the G7 chord).  Thanks to Matt for playing the other bass part.

Kraid(bass) - This was for the Fall '05 divisional.  Probably the hardest thing I've played on bass yet.   Thanks to Eva, Travis, Sara, and Matt for playing piano, guitar, cello and bass.

Protoman(bass) - From the Spring '06 divisional.  It features my friend Nicole on french horn, Eva on piano, and Jude whistling the intro.  It makes sense if you've played Mega Man 3.

Albrechstberger - Fugue 3- The Fugue from Albrechstberger's Duet 3 for violin and cello.  I played bass, Cindy played violin.  Fall '06.

Nocturne- From the Castlevania Symphony of the Night soundtrack.  I played the melody on bass.  My accompaniment was 2 violins, viola, cello, bass, piano, and Bobby Winston doing integrals on the white board behind me.  Thanks to Cindy, Alexandra, Chu-ying, Sharon, Jeremy and Eva for their accompaniment!

Celes/Gau- A medley of Celes, Aria di Mezzo Carraterre, and Gau's Theme from Final Fantasy 6, arranged for solo bass, string quintet, two guitars and piano.  This was for my very last divisional, March 20, 2007.  Thanks to Diana, Cindy, Chu-Ying, Sarah, Jeremy, Magdalena, Dereck, and Eva for their accompaniment!

Sonta in D- I originally wrote this as "Sonata in D for bass and piano" for theory class in Spring 2005.  I decided to add violin and flute for this performance in the Spring 07 divisional.  Special thanks to Cindy, Melanie and Eva for palying with me, and to Thomas Stauffer for teaching me how to write in sonata-alegro form!
